Would asking for a credit increase, to off set the balance of the other credit cards, hurt my credit score?

It's probably something I wouldn't do, but am curious about. Even if it's not to off set any balance, would asking for an increase hurt? Would it count as an inquiry?

The first poster is just wrong.

When you ask for a credit increase it doe's cause a soft inquire that doe's not affect your credit in the least and if you are turned down that doe's not affect your credit either.

If on the other hand you are approved for the increase and your debt to credit ratio goes down, your score will go up.

You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain, go for it.
