I have a 7 ft. olympic bench bar and my scale says it only weighs 35 lbs. can this be true?

I weighed me, then me with the bar and it says that it's only 35 lbs. Somebody last time told me it had to be a 5.5 ft. bar but it is definitely 7 ft. i weighed me with a 45 lb. plate and it said it was 45 lbs. How can a 7 ft. olympic bar weigh only 35 lbs?
I bought it at Sports Authority for $50.00.

We didn't call it baseball when I was growing up. We called it hardball. True, we used a baseball but hardball sounded better. At first I thought that was just the way it was in Florida but then I talked to my friend Don Farrell who said that was what they too called it growing up in California.
