In a dissecting microscope, what is the reversible stage plate?

On my diagram it doesn't list what it is or what it does, can someone please tell me? Thank you. I also would like to know what the binocular head is, thanks.

It is a metal or plastic plate on the stage where you place your specimen. It's reversible because one side is black and the other side is white depending on the color of background you want to view.

The binocular head is the two eye pieces (oculars) and the point where they are attached to the microscope body.
