It overcomes the distance limitations associated with cables. Since this product works on wireless technology, it eliminates clutter along with computer noise in the work area and saves desktop space. This extension device consists of a sender and a receiver unit. While the former is connected to the computer, the latter is connected to the USB peripherals. Both these units are linked through wireless 802.11 type connection. Once the connections are secured, the device is ready to operate. These extenders provide instant access to data with a speed of 54 Mbps and allow up to four USB peripherals to be placed away from the source. Additional hub connections are supported by this USB Extender in case more devices need to be connected. The Extender provides multi platform support and works with Windows XP, Vista, Unix, Linux and Mac OSX. It allows for connection of a variety of USB devices such as keyboards and mice, printers, DVD players, web cams, portable storage, displays and music players. No additional investment on hardware or software is required as this device is compatible with original USB and uses the same cables and connectors. It does not require any device drivers for operation. These devices work on Icron’s patented Extreme USB technology. This USB Extension device combines the speed and security of wired technology with the ease-of-use of wireless technology. Along with providing an attractive alternative to wired solutions, this product is an ideal solution for accessing the computer and powering devices in remote locations. It satisfies the need of consumers due to its various features such as high bandwidth, low cost, low power consumption, light weight and compact size. It also provides 64 bit WEP wireless security. Using this device over other types of extenders is an intelligent choice if the work space is limited. An affordable, inexpensive alternative to the other models of extenders, the Wireless USB Extender represents a significant milestone in USB technology. It is being used in small home offices as well as remote monitoring and training facilities. About the Author Jennifer Luec is an acknowledged writer in this industry. USB Flash driver needed? (i.e. microsoft.com ect.) Here is all the info I have that it written on the casing: To know the maker of your flash drive, insert it on a Windows XP pc and go to your device manager, expand the list of Disk Drives to see its name, to know the exact driver, can you repost your question and right click on your flash disk in Disk drive, and past the Device Instance ID here, or message me, so I can check if there's a Win98 Driver or a generic one which can be use for your Win98 machine. Alternatively if your machine is a little bit power enough you can upgrade your old desktop to Windows 2000, so you won't have any difficulty finding compatible drivers for your flash drive. Here you can try this driver But before doing so, make a backup copy of your files in your old machine, installing different usb drivers might cause a blue screen in your Win98 machine, and may not boot at all, ME911 Launches Its Line of Intelligent IDs, Safety Wristbands and Keychain USB Drives to Protect Families During an ... and is probably only Windows 98 or 97
It didn't come with a CD or papers or anything. I'm not sure who made, it the only company label on it say Office Depot, which is where I bought it. It was just the flash drive itself in a plastic container.
