what is the torque sequence and spec for a 1600 dual port vw cylinder head?

Depends on what you have. Torque lower 4 to 6 ft lb, to compress push rod tubes, tighten uppers to the same spec, starting from the inside and working to the outside,top and bottom. This is when you align the push rod tubes in the head so they are straight. I use a 3/8 extension stuck in the push rod tube to do this. Then using an X pattern starting with one of the lower inner studs, tighten to spec. 8mm head studs,18 ft lbs. 10 mm head studs, 23 ft lb. I usually use lock-tight on the 4 upper studs.
