How do I Fix My Wireless Internet on my laptop?

I have an HP dv5000 laptop. The wireless internet works great about 80% of the time. Sometimes when I open up the laptop it says Network error. It always works again after I close the laptop, reset the modem and router and open the laptop again.
Weird thing is I live with others and they never have the problem with their wireless?

First off, what wireless hardware are you using? Linksys, Netgear or brand X?

Linksys was nothing but trouble for us (7 'puters in the house).

Switching to Netgear for wireless made ALL of the problems go away. The brand X adapters are happy, too.
Our Airport Express (mac Oh yeah) sends the wireless to all of the machines throughout the house.

We switched to Cavalier and have T3 speed for the price of DSL. It is wonderful too. (we waited two (2) years for them to get to our county--it was worth it).

My husband downloads movies and tv shows in 30 minutes or less. What wireless and whose DSL makes such a difference.

Stuff that used to take 2 DAYS now arrives in 90 minutes.
Yeah baby, we love our wireless now.
