Barcode wands were the first broadly used types of barcode readers. How does such a barcode wand work? In the tip of the wand you'll find a small LED (light emitting diode) and a photo receptor. It's almost certain that most scanners today are of the Charge Coupled Device (CCD) scanning type. For Macintosh computers or laptops without keyboard ports, a connection via USB is the only viable alternative.

how do i get a laser diode?

i want to build a burning laser (not like a realy big one like one that is about 10 inches long), i do not care what color it is, but i want it to burn stuff like at least be enough to light a match or fire work fuse. i have an old playstation 1 and i only have like 1 game that sucks so i have no use for it and i was wondering if i could take it apart and would i find a laser diode that i could atatch to a driver ( btw how do i do that?) and all the parts ( what are the parts i need, nothing to complicated please). i also have a little black etec dvd player that i took apart for the laser diode ( it stoped working =[) and i found what looks like it should be the laser diode but i have no idea how to get to it any further, what should i do next? should i go with the dvd player or the playstation 1? wich will be better? i will vote u the best answer if your answer is what im looking for.
