Why is it cheaper to buy a linear actuator with a stroke of 5.9" instead of 6"?

I'm involved in a project at work where we're spec'ing a new linear actuator. We were originally asking for a 6" stroke length, and the company came back asking if we really needed 6" or if 5.9" was sufficient. For whatever reason, 5.9" is a standard stroke length for linear actuators. Does anyone know why?

This simple answer is that the linear actuator company only produces metric items...5.9" = 150mm
