The Different Types of Stereo Microscopes Available in the Market Today
Stereo Microscopes are in. Generally known as "Stereomicroscopes" or "Dissection microscopes", these are instruments with lower power allowing a larger stage for a viewing that is closer of the world that is not microscopic. With this apparatus, insects that are tiny appear to be monsters, flaws and marks in gemstones & coins become obvious, and a splinter looks as big as a nail, making it easy for you to pull out.http://www.greatscopes.com/inspection.htm
There are models that are inexpensive and are generally for children. There are different models that have zoom, better optics and greater lighting for industrial and professional use.
The stereomicroscope or "dissection" microscope allows a view that is incredible of whatever is being looked at. Since, it has two sets of lenses that are complete from eyepiece to objective, they possess the required objects to bring about a three dimensional view, the results of which are striking. A small insect looks like a complex and enlarged monster, almost twenty times of the normal size.
The features of this instrument are:
-2x Objectives for 20x Total Magnification and 10x Widefield Eyepiece
-Focus Gears made of metal
-Dual Widefield eyepieces which can be adjusted for eye differences (diopter) and width
-Size: 10" High; 6.5" Long; 4.5" Wide.
-Reversible stage plates - Black/White.
-Frame construction and a base made of metal alloy
-Warranty for one year
-Dustcover of Vinyl
The modern microscope is made of extremely complex optical components. If the microscope is to work well, the entire optical path should be set up and controlled very accurately. Apart from this, the basic optical principles of the microscope are relatively easy to follow and simple.
The objective lens is nothing but a magnifying glass that is very powerful, i.e. a lens which has a very short focal length. It is kept very close to the specimen under examination to make sure that the light from the specimen is focused about 160 mm inside the microscope tube. This gives an image of the specimen. An inverted image is seen by when we remove the eyepiece and place a piece of tracing paper above the end of the tube. By carefully focusing an image of the specimen that is dim a much more enlarged image can be seen. This real image is what the eyepiece lens views and further enlargement is provided.
In most of the microscopes, there is a compound lenses eyepiece having two lenses, one of which is near the front and the other near the back of the eyepiece tube. An air separated couplet is thus formed. In a lot of designs, a focus of the virtual image is brought about between the two lenses in the eyepiece. The first lens brings the real image to a focus and the second lens enables the eye to focus on the virtual image.
There are different types of Stereomicroscopes available for children and for professional and industrial usage. According to the usage and purpose, the power and characteristics of the instrument vary.

40x on microscope is so hard to focus?
I'm trying to look at my sperm on my microscope w/ 40x, but I can't see a dang thing. Any hints?
I'd say you need a more powerful scope; the human sperm is the smallest cell in the body, hands down. Try a 100x.
