I'm going to Alaksa, what would be the best camera/equipment to have/get?

I'm going in July. I currently have a Canon Powershot A410 3.2 MP and a 3.2x Optical zoom. Would it be worth it to buy a new camera?

I have a lot of experience with photography and if you know the craft, the camera just becomes another type of tool. If you don't know anything about photography, I would say just keep what you have. If you have the money for another camera, sure why not? I would recommend an SLR instead of the ones you listed.
