Is there symbolism to seeing a ring of golden yellow light when one closes one's eyes?

Since I was a small child, I have often seen a partially complete or sometimes complete ring of yellow light (picture part of a pineapple ring) that if I concentrated, I could make complete. The ring would burn brighter and brighter if I concentrated to make it so, fading if I stopped concentrating on a particular part. It happens in bright sun as well as complete darkness equally, but when I am feeling particularly hopeless, the ring is a sickly brown color, and is almost never complete, nor can I will it to complete itself. Is this a physical phenomenon, having something to do with my corneas and the blood pressure level in my head, or is it something else? Why can I make it grow when it's bright and my mood is positive, determined, or open, but when I am angry or depressed it's a yucky brown? Any thoughts?

Usually, one can see some residue from a bright light immediately after shutting one's eyes.

Since that image only lasts a few seconds and then quickly fades, you don't seem to be perceiving this afterglow.

I would say that you may be manifesting an image in your consciousness based on the memory of an image that you saw when you were a small child.

To you, that ring represents your mood in a very literal fashion.

However, I wouldn't rule out a biological problem somewhere in the visual processing system. If I were you, I would consult a professional about what could very well be a physical problem.

I sense that it is psychological, though.
