Pelouze PS20DL postal scale will not turn on?

I bought this scale second-hand and it worked fine for awhile but then suddenly stopped operating. It will not power on. I have tried moving it around to different electrical outlets throughout the house, but none work. I have also tried using battery only instead of the AC adapter, but that didn't solve the problem either. Any ideas?
