The roots are able to penetrate and take hold quite will on cork bark, and the material itself provides a measure of nutrients to the growing orchid.

One thing to consider when planning to mount an orchid to a growth medium is what the requirements of your specific orchid are. Orchid species that should be kept dryer than others should be mounted on a material that promotes quicker drying, preferably a permeable or porous material.

where is the water coming from busted pipe or flooding?

8yr old house on a slab. No water at 6pm last night then at 3 am this morning there was just a little. we got up at 7 and the floor was soaked. about a 3x5 ft section right b4 my kitchen and behind the wall of my laundry area. washer and dishwasher area are dry. its leaking thru the wall to being under my dryer. shop vac not working very well i have a space heater on it now. SOMEONE HELP!!!

There may be a crack in your foundation which is allowing water to flow in. Its possible there is a broken pipe somewhere (inside or out), or if you're located at/near sea level it may be ground water (but your on a slab so that is least likely right now). There also may be other things outside like garden hoses and such adding to your problem.
