Speaking of temperatures it is important to always have a good thermometer at hand when melting candle wax.  Temperatures are very important to getting the wax to react correctly in the reforming process.  Different type waxes have varying heat requirements so it is important to know the temperature of the wax during the melting process.  Sometimes an experienced chandler will convince themselves that they can determine the correct heat condition just by experience but don't be over confident.  The temperature should always be monitored with a thermometer for optimum results.

Once the wax has been melted to the proper level and desired colors and scents have been added it is time to put it into the molds.  The molds are a reflection of what the finished candle will look like.  There are molds made of aluminum, rubber or plastic that form the wax into a candle that are removed after the wax cools and then there are container candles where the container that holds the melted wax remains as part of the candle.  Mold selection is an other fun part of candling.  The wide variety of possible iterations of candles makes selecting a blast.

Candle making involves dealing with heat and hot waxes so it is important to keep safety considerations in the forefront.  A fire extinguisher should be a piece of equipment on hand anytime candles are being produced.

Effect of stirring action on heat absobtion into water?

I did an experiment which produced results that suggest that water absorbs heat more quickly if a magnetic stirrer is used in the same container with the same heat source. Is this to do with hot water conducting heat less efficiently than cold water? If not, can someone explain please? Thanks.

If the atoms of the container wall are the same temperature as the water molecules temperature no net heat transfer will occur (energy will be passed back and forth with no net change). The hot vibrating atoms of the container wall can impart more energy to relatively cold water molecules. The magnetic stirrer would help supply 'fresh' cold water molecules in contact with the container wall maximizing heat transfer compared with natural circulation due to density change.
