how can i get her to use a sippy ?

I have tried to give my baby girl, almost 1 now,a sippy but she doesn't have any interest in it. I know we shouldn't compare kids but we were at a 1 yr olds birthday party this weekend and he used a cup and even fed himself pizza. was he really advanced or am i babying her and she should be doing that stuff? she eats everything i do, i just make really small bites. anyways i am deviating. i tried to take the spill stopper thingy out and she just dumps the contents until the cup is empty. i bought one with s softer nipple like spout and nothing. i have to admit i'm not really pushing it, but i just wanted to know what everyone else thought.
she does feed herself, just she doesn't hold an entire piece of pizza and bite it. i cut things up and put them on her tray on the high chair and she feeds herself

It's not right to compare, but we all do it. My son couldn't feed himself pizza at that age. I was still cutting grapes up into 16 pieces at that age.

Most pediatricians recommend that you get rid of the bottle at 12 months. So it's getting to be time. I wouldn't push it, per se--that will just make it more stressful for both of you.

My son's doctor said not to use the sippy cups with valves (I think it was because they still have to use the sucking motion to get the drink out.) I really liked the Take-n-Toss brand. If you can find them, they're cheap and don't leak a whole lot, even when turned upside down.

You could try skipping the sippy cup altogether and move right to a regular drinking cup. Or try it with a regular cup and straw. We used sippy cups, but maybe not all kids like them.

You could keep a sippy cup of water available to her at all times. She might try it now and then. It takes some practice and getting used to.
