i am making a homemade electrophoresis machine as a school project. i know what materials to use for power supply, etc. however, i need to know what material to use for the box itself.

You are going to be using a very high voltage so please don't use the plastic containers, you might end up electrocuting yourself. I would plexiglass which I believe to be thermosetting. If you use a thermoplastic the high temperature generated could melt the box.

As for the comb, I'm sure you could use any smooth plastic as the comb. Of course test it first to make sure you can remov it without ripping the wells.
